Character Description: Harold "Happy" Loman
Happy Loman is the youngest son of Willy Loman. He has the same personality as his father, which makes him become easily brainwashed by his father’s version of “The American Dream”. Growing up, be had to live in the shadow of his brother Biff since he was a superstar in high school and was very popular, just how Willy lived in the shadow of his brother Ben. Throughout his childhood, he’d watch and listen to his father exaggeratethe truth. This is directly instilled in Happy’ personality as he tells everybody that he is an assistant buyer, instead of an assistant to an assistant buyer. In essence, he and his father are almost the exact same person, except for one thing. Sexual encounters with women are a defining moment in Happy’s and Willy’s life. However, the only
time Happy feels that he is in power is when he engages in sexual activity with women who are engaged to men at his work. Although he hates himself for it, he loves having many affairs with women. Willy, on the other hand, regrets having an affair with a woman, as it destroyed his relationship with his eldest son Biff.
